591 APP - How to set what type of apartment to search for 1.3
Updated: May 10, 2018
SETTING WHAT KIND OF APARTMENT YOU ARE LOOKING FOR ON 591
In this next section, you will learn what setting is best for the kind of apartment you want to rent. There are a lot of different settings to choose from, so it can be kind of confusing at first. Also, 591 can be used to rent more than just apartments. People use it to find parking place rentals, office buildings, and many other things, so its best to choose the correct settings, so you do not get listings of rentals you are not interested in.
It is also really important to know what type of apartment best suits your needs. That was you can choose the correct settings to show you listings that are actual apartments you are interested in.
In Taiwan, you can get a huge apartment that has multiple rooms, or you could even just rent a room out of someone else's apartment. That's why it is important to understand what settings you are using. You do not want to accidentally find yourself looking at an apartment where you will be sharing rooms and a bathroom with people you do not know when you originally thought that the apartment was only for one person.
This section is the most important for finding a place that fills your specific needs and wants when it comes to what type of place you want to live in. I would recommend especially understand the differences between numbers 3, 4, 5, and 6 to optimize your apartment search.
類型 (lèixíng) Types of Apartments is the current section we are in on the APP.
不限 (bù xiàn) is used to not have any requirements in the search engine. If you select this, it will show everything, apartments, store rentals, office rooms, parking spots, etc...
整層住家 (zhěngcéng zhùjiā) is renting an entire floor for an apartment. These apartments are usually really big and more expensive.
獨立套房 (dúlì tàofáng) is an apartment that is kind of like a studio suite. It is meant for one to two people. These apartments are usually a lot smaller.
分租套房 (Fēn zū tàofáng) is an apartment that is usually separated into different sections. It is very common practice in Taiwan for a landlord to buy an old apartment and remodel it into one hallway with lots of independent small apartments in it. These apartments can have their own bathrooms and showers. They sometimes also can share a shower, so it is really important to know the details before signing any leases.
雅房 (yǎ fáng) is an apartment that share some amenities with a neighboring apartment. These type of apartments will sometimes share bathrooms and living areas or even bedrooms. I would not recommend this kind of an apartment for a foreigner because the living standards in these apartments can often be a lot lower. A lot of these apartments are often the size of a large closet and sometimes even have no windows. The bathroom is usually outside of your apartment and shared with other similar rooms.
A lot of times landlords and agents will put the apartment in the wrong section, so I would use a mixture of numbers 3, 4, and 5 to search for an apartment.
