With Chinese New Year coming up,  there is a lot of stress on Taiwanese families to provide a big meal for their family. Many families rejoice around this time of the year because they can go out and buy food for everyone to eat.  This might be the case for most families, but some families are not as well off. They cannot afford to buy the necessities for Chinese New Year. Noob Bike is a race for people who do not have the means to have a big meal for Chinese New Year. The Noob Bike race is built on the idea of giving to those in need. The race is open to anyone who is willing to help those families. We will meet at Zhongxiao Sogo and will be given a grocery list. You must then go shopping.

 - why noob bike? -

Noob Bike?

Obike.

In 2012 the Taipei City government introduced the Ubike, a new mode of cheap city transportation. Ubikes quickly took off and could be seen all around the city. It gave “normal people” a new mode of easily accessible transportation. These people often haven’t ridden a bike in years and have no prior experience to riding bikes on the road thus are called noobs (a beginner). The ubike is the pinnacle of bikes used just for transportation. The ubike is a bike for noobs.

In 2017 Obikes came out, so you can now race with Obikes.

      - rules -

規則:
Noob bike

Noob Bike will be using a point system to determine the winner of the race. For instance, you could be the fastest person to finish, but not have the most points – so you are not the winner of the race.  All participates must make sure to complete most of their grocery list before going to the finish line.

Additional points will be rewarded for:
Wearing a helmet +10 points
Dressing up +10 points (Wear something snazzy!)

There is a onehour window to complete the entirety of the race. The one who returns with the most items that add up to the highest point value first, wins.

How does shopping work? Everyone’s grocery list has the same items. For example, you might have to buy noodles at Sanmin Road Carrefour. So your list will say Sanmin Road Carrefour- Noodles 25NT worth 10 Points. You must then go to Sanmin Road Carrefour and buy noodles for 25NT and bring a receipt for the item. You cannot buy for other friends.  The receipt must stay with the noodles. If you lose the receipt, the item does not count. The noodles 10 points will be added to the rest of your points once you finish shopping and go to the finish line.

 - Fake stores -

Noob Bike will also have a couple fake stores that Kadacha will run. The items at these stores are free but are only limited to a certain amount. These stores are also only opened for a short period of time. For example one Kadacha store might be open for 10 minutes before closing again for 10 minutes. For example, store opens from 8:00PM-8:10 then is closed. The store reopens at 8:20-8:30. Information regarding the location and times of the store will be given out at the day of the race.
